Knowledge networks building concrete bridges

François Bar, during his recent visit to Brazil, kindly accepted to give a talk to about 60 students from the Lycee Pasteur in Sao Paulo. He told us how his interest for people and technology has led him from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees in Paris to a career in the USA and research on the strategic impact of technology and telecommunications on society .

Francois is currently finalizing a research project looking at the socio-economic impact of mobile phones and wireless in Latin America and looking for a good case study of participatory media use on mobile phones and/or wi-fi and open source.

Thanks Francois for sharing your parcours and the lively anecdotes about the unusual and creative ways different cultures adapt modern technology to their needs.
