POSSIBLE INTERACTIVE ACTIVITY: JIGSAW
I wonder if anyone has tried a sort of blogging collaborative jigsaw activity. This is what I mean: in a class of 16 students I might divide the class into 4 groups of 4 where each group has a part of an assignment, then the groups would recombine so that each new group has one member from the former groups to report to the others. It seems to me that this scenario could translate into a blogging activity, but I haven't thought it all the way through. Any ideas?
(Jane Petring, Questions for Bee on Blogs, e-mail to becomingwebhead@yahoogroups.com , February 15th 2004)First Phase
- I would advise you to open a main blog for the activity you are developing (Jigsaw Main Blog).
- Invite all students to join and encourage to use it as a vehicle of communication between you and them.
- Open another blog for every four students (Blog 1, 2, 3, 4), whom you invite and give (or not) administrative rights.
- Students can then discuss and post inside their common blog.
Second Phase
- Recombine the students.
- Re-enact the same process and open new bloggers for new groups formed or keep the previous blogs as reference.
- Use the Jigsaw Main Blog for reporting back the final product.
